Hudson Media was founded by Darek Barcikowski who brings over 20 years of media experience to the agency.
Darek Barcikowski was born in Poland and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 9. In 2003, Barcikowski co-founded White Eagle Media, which has become the leading publisher of Polish language media in the United States. Today, Barcikowski continues to oversee all business operations at White Eagle Media and serves as publisher for all publications in the company’s portfolio. In addition to the United States, Barcikowski launched publications at White Eagle Media in the United Kingdom and in Poland.
Barcikowski’s main area of expertise is ethnic media. Throughout his career he has been involved with New America Media, a San Francisco based organization which has worked to enhance and support ethnic journalism in the United States and was a contributor to the Ethnic Media Project at the Center on Media and Society at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Barcikowski is a frequent lecturer on ethnic media in the United States and an advocate for community-based journalism that serves communities which speak a language other than English at home.
In establishing Hudson Media, Barcikowski was driven by a mission to facilitate access to ethnic and non-English speaking communities for companies, non-profit institutions, NGOs and public officials while at the same creating business opportunities for ethnic media outlets that sustain their important work.
Hudson Media is based in New Britain – a city in central Connecticut located half way between New York and Boston where Polish Americans and Hispanics make up nearly two-thirds of the population.
